My son had a terrible experience at an Instacare a few weeks ago where the doctor was forcibly trying to retract his penis without my knowing...he caused his penis to bleed not to mention the emotional scar it caused.
It was horrible and because of this experience, I vow to do what I can to educate our doctors (as crazy as that sounds) on an intact child.
What is is with doctors? They seem to be so determined to touch and retract non-circumcised penis'. It's as if they have never seen one before! Both of my boys are intact, and whenever a doctor examines them, I make damn sure they don't even touch their penis...there is no need too!
Both of my boys were retractable prior to their first birthday--and they were (and at ages 6 & 8, still are) the only ones to retract their foreskins. The only other intact male I've ever seen was a boy I used to babysit, and he was also fully retractile in toddlerhood. I see so many places that say that "most" boys aren't retractile until they are teens...I wonder if there is any actual data to show this?
Any medical staff that forcibly retracts the patient's foreskin is liable for battery and can sue to win. At least, one should register a complaint with the AMA. Unseen damage can occur causing abnormal adhesion or later phimosis or further tearing where scarring occurred.

It is regulated by testosterone production. Nature also helps it along by making the process itch, so itching and even playing furthers the separation process. BTW-the penis grows faster than the foreskin (the penis grows into the foreskin, that is there's no "extra"skin). This also means the foreskin is constantly changing position with the penis and so it is common to miss a bit at the toilet even when aiming correctly. Something recognize knowing it's not the boy's fault. :-)
Foreskin separation can take up to age 19 at the extreme end. Nature rather makes it retractile when it is time to use the foreskin, as in puberty. As all boys are different, it's best not to make generalizations as this is what has lead to many forcible retraction and circumcisions.
Only those who are fit to live do not fear to die. And none are fit to die who have shrunk from the joy of life and the duty of life. Both life and death are parts of the same great adventure.
